The High Holidays are right around the corner and this year Metro Chicago Hillel and Silverstein Base Hillel have new expanded offerings! While services are geared towards Metro Chicago Hillel students, all High Holiday services and meals are open to all Chicago Basers (students and young adults) except the first night of Rosh Hashanah dinner (9/9) which is for Metro Chicago Hillel students.

Rosh Hashanah

All held at Base: Lincoln Park

Sunday, September 9th:

  • 6:30 pm: Services  
  • 7:30 pm: Dinner for Metro Chicago Hillel students

Monday, September 10th: 

  • 10:0 am: Services
  • 12:30 pm: Lunch
  • 1:30 pm: Taschlich  (we will walk down to the lake together and cast our transgressions into the water.  BYOBread or we'll have some for you!)

Yom Kippur

Kol Nidre services offered at both locations

There are two options for evening Yom Kippur services, one at Base: Lincoln Park which will include instruments and one at Base: Loop which will be more traditional. 

Tuesday, September 18th:

  • 6:30 pm: Kol Nidre services
  • 8:00 pm: Discussion led by Rabbi Megan

Base Loop

  • 6:30 pm: Kol Nidre services
  • 8:00 pm: Discussion led by Rav Ezra

Yom Kippur daytime services will only be held at Base: Loop

Wednesday, September 19th morning:

  • 10:00 am: Services 

End of Yom Kippur and break fast offered at both locations

  • 5:00 pm: Yom Kippur meditation
  • 5:45 pm: Yom Kippur conversation
  • 6:30 pm: Neilah (Final service of Yom Kippur)
  • 7:42 pm: Break-the-fast dinner

  • 6:30pm Neilah (Final service of Yom Kippur)
