Loyola: "If Someone Comes To Kill You..." - What Should We Do With Terrorists?

  • Loyola Student Center - Damen 212 6511 North Sheridan Road Chicago, IL, 60626 United States (map)

The “stabbing Intifada” now taking place in Israel— in which some young Palestinians have been trying and sometimes succeeding to kill Jews with knives—raises difficult questions about self-defense and Jewish values.

We will explore the parameters of self-defense in Jewish tradition.

Is self-defense a mitzvah? What are the limits of self-defense—is it permitted to kill? What if you see someone being attacked?

Texts will be available in Hebrew and English translation.

Kosher lunch provided.
