The Metro Chicago Hillel Internship program is made up of two cohorts of students: campus engagement leaders and Base Hillel leaders. Metro Chicago Hillel interns build relationships with uninvolved Jewish peers in their existing social networks and beyond to create dynamic and innovative Jewish communities through relevant and meaningful Jewish experiences and conversations.

Metro Chicago Hillel Engagement Interns

Metro Chicago Hillel Engagement Interns focus on engaging peers on their respective campus through programming, campus opportunities, and coffee dates.

Shelley Davis is a current Junior at the school of The Art Institute of Chicago. She works primarily in the Film and Animation department specializing in screenwriting, story boarding and post production. Shelley will be working as an engagement intern with Metro Chicago Hillel for the 2017-20018 school year.

Haley Dennis is a junior at Columbia College Chicago where she majors in Dance and minors in Cultural Studies. She is currently involved in the JCUA’s college fellowship program and continues her interest in social justice through her art and community involvement by analyzing the role of the body in regards to progressive movements.

Eli Blase is a 22 year old - a loyal Chicago native - working to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Relational Communication at DePaul University. In recent years, Eli has worked for a diverse palette of jobs and programs where he strived to build and better a variety communities. Doing so he applied skills and knowledge from his academic studies, strong love for the fine arts, and experiential Judaic studies and travels.

My name is Abigail Kayman and I am a junior at DePaul University studying Special Education. I am originally from Elmhurst, IL and now live in Lincoln Park. I spend most of my free time volunteering for the Special Olympics at events all around Chicago. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as trying new restaurants all over the city.

Levine Hillel Center Interns

Levine Hillel Center Interns work as greeters at the Levine Center, help with administrative tasks, and create graphic design work for Metro Chicago Hillel. 

My name is Max Kalef and I am from Columbus Ohio. I'm a Senior Graphic Design major and Animation minor at Columbia College Chicago. Some of my favorite things to do are drawing and voice acting. Right now I work part time at Metro Chicago Hillel's front desk while doing graphic design for all of the Metro Chicago schools.

Lily Kleinman has been a part of the Hillel community the moment she walked into the UIC Hillel building on the first day of her freshman year. She believes that the students, dedicated staff, and leaders of Hillel all play a huge role in shaping her experience with Hillel. Lily is starting her second year as president of the student board at UIC Hillel, and as president it is her mission to build on the community that UIC Hillel has already established and continue to make Hillel feel like a home away from home for all Jewish students on campus.
